My name is Kim Smith. I’ve been playing beach volleyball for 4.5 years. This is my third full season on the AVP. You may not know my name (unless you really know the sport or are related to me), but I’m okay with that. Though I identify as a professional beach volleyball player, I’ve realized there are tiers to that title.
Zionsville, IN. Height. 6'3". Birthday. July 18, 1992. Kim played indoor for 12 years before she turned her sights to beach volleyball. She had her breakout season in 2017 when she partnered with Olympic Bronze-Medalist CiCi Zhang and made 7 of 8 Main Draws. She’s also the AVP Staff writer.

Indianapolis native Kim Smith is bringing her A game to the small screen on Tuesday when she competes on "Wheel of Fortune." Kim is used to competition because she's a professional beach volleyball player. When she isn't outside enjoying the sun and sand of Southern California, Kim is a freelance writer. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts.

Beach volleyball fans know Mark Schuermann as the voice of the AVP. His girlfriend, former pro player Kim Smith, writes for AVP.com. And both won big on Wheel of Fortune and tell the story in this video interview below. We interviewed the two of them together this past Friday from Hermosa Beach, two days after Kim came up big, and about six weeks after Mark won it all on an episode of Wheel like no other.

After college she played adult leagues and sparked an interest in beach volleyball. After moving to Florida in 2014, Kim began coaching for Bulldog Beach volleyball club as well as playing beach tournaments herself. She coached the U15 team for MFVC in 2017/2018 and was an assistant coach at FWB high school in 2017.
Wilson Volleyball, who was once just a sponsor for their beach partnership, has now entrusted the majority of their beach volleyball marketing to the McKibbins. Riley and Maddison are tasked with introducing Wilson athletes to the fans, creating the characters and showing their personalities through video creation.
